Busy weekend?

Why yes, yes it was a busy weekend, now you mention it.

Let's see... swim team potluck & pep rally (Friday night) :: swim team photos (Saturday a.m.) :: swim meet, 7.30 a.m. to 1pm :: lunch with grandparents :: big manly chainsaw project :: Tour de France Junior party, complete with a red dotted hill-climb jersey, flags to wave, and Gallic cocktails for grownups :: early Sunday 4-mile run :: church :: lunch at Grandma's house :: Slip n' Slide on grandma's front lawn :: dinner with friends

= EXHAUSTED.

And no clean up time.  At all.  The entire weekend.  Wanna see?

This is our front hall.  The place where Every. Single. Blessed. Item got DUMPED as we walked in the door this weekend.  Dumped, forgotten, and abandoned as we moved on to next activity, next activity, next activity. [Do you love Mr NilsenLife chilling in the middle of it all?? Oh yes, I do too. Mmm hmm.]

Clearly, I have no shame.  My poor mother will be mortified when she sees I've published this evidence of my slothful housekeeping.

But just wanted to say that even people trying to keep it simple sometimes....... don't.

Have a great week y'all!!

You are a brave, honest and wonderful human being. Our house looks like that about 80% of the time.

Oh I love this post. I do, I do.

I love it because, as Dave mentioned, it's what our house looks like 80% of the time.

Thanks so much for hanging with us this weekend!

That's your front hall? Well, that is what our entire home looks like, most all of the time. Thanks for being brave and sharing. I spent all weekend home alone (1st time in 8 years!) trying to clean up and de-clutter. To accomplish this, My brave husband took the boys to his brother's country house by himself for the first time. They just returned, ALIVE! And the apartment...well, you can see floor in our bedroom for he first time in a loooong time. Sounds like you had a lovely fun weekend. And I bet you're looking forward to what the house is going to look like upon your return from BlogHer, too.

As others have commented, you are not alone. There is a reason there are very few pictures taken inside my home and it isn't because I don't like the paint.

My husband can completely chill in utter chaos, too. I think it's a gift - for me. At least one of us needs to be calm.

So far, this is my favorite post of the morning because it's the real deal. Sounds like you had an amazing weekend & that's the way it should be.

Ha! I have several pictures of our mud room taken 2 years ago: Counters cleared off, no laundry hanging up or paperwork stacked everywhere. I like to look at those pictures every now and then because it hasn't looked like that since I took those pictures.

Mr NilsenLife seems to not have changed. Good job, finally getting it documented with a pic

Love it. Chillin' with the hallway junk, one of my favorite pastimes.

Ha ha! It happens to the best of us all and mostly, the Misters don't mind it half as much as the wives, their mothers and the mothers-in-law.

But we all get to clean it all up again sooner or later. I am busy spring cleaning now, even though there is still a good month of winter left.

Thank you for posting this. I have several pictures similar, but I always have an excuse not to show them. So nice to see I am not alone, in the drop zone marathon. Although truly, the whole house often feels like our drop zone.

Isn't that what everyone's house looks like after a busy weekend? I hope so because mine sure does.

I feel like I'm reeling a little from just reading the list of things you did.
