A regular day in the office

He became a stickler for tradition, insisting on being addressed as ‘majesty’ and ‘highness’ and sitting alone for hours wearing his crown; those addressing him were required to direct their eyes downwards in deference.

Valentines snow

The kids help build the first snow man in last night's snow, which has pretty much paralyzed the whole Baltimore Washington Area - wintry mix they call it: snow, sleet and freezing rain (like in "The Ice Storm") - my commute yesterday was a mess, although not of record breaking length (barely 3 hrs, I've done worse!)
This is a picture from our neighborhood valentines party, lovy crafts for the children, chili and beer for the grown ups - a smashing success! ...and you can glimpse our kitchen counters too, on our island...
Neighborhood snow day party too, at the Shaffers... Nilsen and 75% of the Stein kids watching Rudolph.

Wedding wisdom

We spoke about weddings today, Cecilie and I...

It always starts with a request to tell about my wedding. Today I managed to turn it to her thoughts on the matter, and I asked her if she was going to get married. She told me NO, that was not going to happen and when I asked why, she told me that she was afraid.

"What are you afraid of?" was my follow up.

"I am afraid I would miss my mommy!"

A little bit of winter action

We do get the seasons a little bit here, but until a few weeks back it really seemed like we were stuck in autumn, with temperatures in the the 70s (that would be 20s for you celciugrads out there) far into January; then the temperature dropped a couple of weeks back and finally we had a dusting of snow or two...
Cecilie's Flat Stanley project for her friend August in Florida (they don't get much snow down there we didn't think, so we made it a winter Stanley).
On our biggest snow day yet we didn't get enough for sledding (we saw some kids trying it out, but they are a discerning lot, the Nilsen kids), but the ballerina twirled around the neighborhood.
...and Lars just kind of hung out (notice back of the Yellow House in the background as well as mommy doing a military salute).
Action kids on a more normal winter day.
Baby you can ride my car... - Goose and her Maverick.
